Open General Inusrance

If you wish to arrange insurance for small volumes of traffic or a ‘one-off’ movement of freight, then product/ route specific insurance is the most appropriate product.

Product/route specific insurance has the following characteristics:

  • Cargo Insurance Services provide a shipment specific insurance premium, based on the type of goods and destination.
  • The premium will generally be calculate in reference to the value of the goods insured, but will be subject to a minimum charge.
Many customers look at open general insurance for ease of use, insuring on a job by job basis can work out more expensive if you are moving multiple shipments.  What it does allow you to do is insure by job so all costs are accounted for against a particular shipment and so some customers prefer this from a costs accounting point of view.
